Is eCommerce growing in Pakistan?

E-commerce has been growing in popularity in Pakistan in recent years. According to a report from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the value of e-commerce transactions in Pakistan increased from PKR 10.2 billion (approximately USD 63 million) in 2013 to PKR 107.3 billion (approximately USD 663 million) in 2020. The report also found that the number of e-commerce users in Pakistan increased from 3.6 million in 2013 to 15.7 million in 2020.

Factors contributing to the growth of e-commerce in Pakistan include increasing internet and smartphone penetration, the convenience and accessibility of online shopping, and the expansion of payment infrastructure and services.

However, e-commerce still represents a small portion of total retail sales in Pakistan, and the market is expected to continue to grow as more consumers adopt online shopping and as businesses continue to expand their e-commerce offerings.
